Many thanks to all here for their help & sharing knowledge.
A special thank you to Mark Fowler, RJ & Normster who have made this much easier for those of us less talented - and to Allyn for making this possible.
Meet Deb - born today. KT66 Rocket with reverb.
Already eyeing another chassis & cab I seem to have aquired...
The sickness continues
Great to see the close ups! How was the initial takeoff? Did you follow normsters layout? Was the amp good to go or did you have to tweak it to make it stable? Where did you get the cabinet?
Added some pics of tank position. Also the cab pics don't do it justice.
It's a cherry "drawer" from Susquehanna Valley Woodcrafters. Cant beat the price
Just fired up today - some probs but just the usual brain farts.
I'll be tweaking on her for a week or two - always do.
Just tweeks on the Bright - Tone & Mid Boost switches.
Next time I order drawers I'm going to try some different woods.
I have refined my wood finishing - takes time & patience.
Two things I'm short of
Wood Craft Drawer used as head cab Plantation grown cherry with dove tail construction.
If you decide to order... the dimensions must be in decimal form, so from Dr. Hulsey's dimensions...
9-3/4H x 8-7/8W x 18-3/8D drawer
equals
9.75Hx 8.875W x 18.375D
If you'd like to saw off the 1/4" groove for the drawer bottom, it's 3/4" from the outside edge of the drawer to the inside of the groove. So add that to your dimensions (depth or width depending...).
If you want to keep the drawer bottom groove (sounds like a song eh?)
I remember seeing a luthier website that had some 1/8" inlay that would make the groove decorative, but I can't seem to locate it now.
If you use the drawer bottom for the front of the cabinet, the switches seem to just be at the edge.
There are a lot of possibilities, and it certainly is not of the same calibar ofthe cabinets that you see here on this site, but it sure makes an economical road cab to spare the show cab.
So the DrawerCab would be like your work pants, and a "real" cab your dress pants.
I will post this info incase anyone uses the www.Turretboard.com
17.5x 8 x 2.5 chassis for other projects.
The correct dimensions for Woodcraft.com drawer kit for that chassis if anyone is interested is: This is with the half blind dovetails on the side rather than on the top of the head cabinet.
For a standard size Allyn / RJ chassis I order my drawers from Susquehanna Valley Woodcrafters with the following dimensions :--
H = 8.875" (My next ones will be 9.125" for more room at the back)
W = 18.3125 (snug fit for the chassis - 18.375" works too)
D = 10.5" (makes the cab tall, but easy to fit reverb tank & big tubes.
