Amp Chassis Here today, gone tomarrow

Post by ckpop »

Hey I am looking for some Fender Style Chassis builders. It seems that PM sound technology, Kombonking are no longer selling blank chassis's. Marsh amps have discontinued the 6G6 Bassman chassis. I am a big fan of Brownface amps. I can have the faceplates made but need the blank chassis to get me started. Any Idea's or suggestions.

Too bad about the 6G6, I was tempted ...

David Allen has several Fender style chassis.
His Champ sized unit seems to be fairly flexible.
You might find one of the larger chassis to work for a Brownface, since his own amps draw from the Brown Fenders.

I bought a Champ chassis way back when a guy was selling the steel ones on EBAY. After that I had some made up in Aluminum like you see in the attached images. I have the Champ and Princeton chassis made from 5052 aluminum, slanted front etc.... will drop right in a Fender cabinet. No holes, just a blank.

I made up the drawings for a Bassman and I need one for myself, just haven't pulled the trigger yet. After the shop made the first batch the price went up and now these are a bit pricey for a blank... in part because of the low production numbers and also because they require a lot of work. The turn around time is also a bit painful at ~ 5 weeks. The quality is excellent but last I checked the cost is around $69 each... I can work on them for "a deal" but no promises. I would have them run a dozen if I had just one person who wanted one and and will pass them along in small quantities for cost plus shipping to anyone in TAG.

They make a cool way to build a reverse Trainwreck circuit into a combo using an existing cabinet.
