I've been posting a few things here about this amp and I appreciate everyone's help. One more thing please?
I just bought a used D'lite 22/33 amp that was built from a kit. It came with 6V6 tubes. I want to try it with 6L6's. The Brown Note support is lousy, I can't get any info from e-mail or phone calls. On the BN web site it says there is a toggle switch to switch between 6V6's and 6L6's and then rebias.
My amp has no toggle. I see no toggle switch for that on BN layouts on their forum. Can the amp tubes be interchanged with just a bias? Do I have a 22/33 amp or just a 22 watt?

Been doing a little research. My output transformer says
8K Vibro 4-8-16 HTS8815 9960703. It only has single primary wiring not dual 4K and 8K that Brown Note sells on its site. I still don't know if this is a 20 watt transformer or a 35 watt one.

Re: Brown Note D'lite owner's help 22/33 or just 22?
you only need to swap tube rebias and mismatch speaker amp impedance
8ohm speaker -> 16ohm amp output
4ohm speaker -> 8ohm amp output
this way 8k OT will reflect 4k to output tube which is ok to 6L6
cheers

Re: Brown Note D'lite owner's help 22/33 or just 22?
It's the 22W amp and it has the 20W OT. IMHO, I would not install 6L6's and saturate that small OT.docmh wrote:Been doing a little research. My output transformer says

Also tons of stuff in the D/Lite Discussion Section, you just have to use the search function.

I have the 22/33 OT with dual primaries.I believe that it is exact the same size as yours.Mine's code is 8k VIBRO-1 HTS-8815-1 9960750.
I think you can safely use 6l6 tubes,just take care of the speaker impedance mismatch as llemtt has already pointed out.

Re: Brown Note D'lite owner's help 22/33 or just 22?
llmett is correct. Just select 8/16 instead of 4/8 and you'll be fine. The original kits all used Vibrolux iron wound to 8k instead of 4k. Even though the kits were marketed as 22 watts, they used 35 watt iron. Just rebias and you're golden.
