Somewhere amongst this live (1988) medley (pity about the vid quality in 1988):

Killer.... Saw these 2 at the Monterey Jazz Fest a few years before this. Mind blowing good, but for Larry Goldings on organ. Feedback problems drove him nuts and he stormed off the stage throwing a tantrum putting a big damper on the rest of the set. Very weird behavior for a "professional"..... Feedback was boo bad, though.butwhatif wrote:two of the best

Some Bireli Lagrene. First time I heard this guy on a Public Radio station forever ago. It was a pull the car over and wait for the radio jock to say who the hell this was....... Not my favorite stuff of his, but the guy plays his ass off always:

4. Joe Bonamassa "Sloe Gin"
5. Jeff Healy "All Along The Watchtower" Live.

Guitar Solo's
Mmmm....hard not to snub anyone....but here are some that may not have been mentioned. The obvious Clapton, SRV,Beck etc. stuff I don't need to note...
For modern Clean Jazz....Anything by Bob Devos. Supper Tone, technique and phrasing.
Bill Nelson with Be Bop Deluxe... Modern Music, Axe Victim etc.
Eric Johnson....Cliffs of Dover, Desert Rose
Frip's Solo's on "The Cheerful Insanity of...Giles, Giles, and Frip"
Danny Gaton on "Crusin Deuces" CD
Robbin Trower....."Whisky Train"
On acoustic.... a number of tunes by Leo Kottke or Bruce Cockburn
George Benson's solo on "I Want You" from "The Other Side of Abbey Road".....great vocals and cool jam. It came out in '69....still holds up.
Stever Morse w/Dixie Dregs on "Nite Of The Living Dregs"
And sooooo many more...

Re: Favorite guitar solo?
Don't know if this one has been mentioned, but this is one of my (if not THE) all time favorite songs.......just makes me feel good (in a guitar sort-of way) right from the start.
Larry Carlton @ his best, IMO....."Don't take me alive"
