Tag - what kind of response is that? He may not have much experience with power tubes. That is a reasonable statement IMO. Maybe he has been playing too loudly to notice the differences anymore? Wow, what a completely illogical, baseless, and stupid comment. You have absolutely no information to jump to that conclusion. Think about it, this is the kind of comment that results in you being so well liked. Perhaps you might consider who you are offending, for no good reason, before you insert your foot.tubedogsmith wrote:

One of the things I love about this forum is the quality of the posters: patient, non-caustic, and informative. Let's keep it that way.

Don't worry, you wear your experience on your sleeve and it's very obvious from almost all your posts. All talk!! You talk about your great tone and comparisons in clips and all but a very few them sound like they were recorded by a 4th grader with a rebuilt transistor radio. Keep spewing, Maybe if you use more capitol letters folks will notice you more. No, use large RED letters, that'll get your point across.Mr Dumble wrote:Sounds like you do not have much experience with power tubes, or maybe have been playing to loudly to notice differences anymore. We all have our quirks, no doubt. The whole premise of making clips to either get a point across with the sole purpose of winning an argument, or perhaps to have one's ego stroked on the internet is something that entirely escapes me; however, I am just another mortal. Certainly not what I would think amps are made for, nor the reason I believe musical talent is bestowed on selected people on this planet.tubedogsmith wrote: Don't worry, you wear your experience on your sleeve and it's very obvious from almost all your posts. If your MV post was an honest one, (I am skeptical) then you have my sincere apology.

Speaking for myself of course, I love posting clips on the internet forums. Being the competitive guy I am, I love comparing my playing to the thousands of great internet players. I steal as much as I can too! I respect everyone who posts clips both good and bad, as its a tough audience. Not like when you play in a club live and some drunk comes up and tells you how great you were when you know you sucked that night. Its more like playing to your peers. Actually, thats what it IS. I love listening to others clips far more than posting my own. I have been turned on to to so many fantastic players who if it were not for the net, would be virtually unknown. On the other side, I try to show everything I am talking about with a clip of it. It just makes sense, and lets everyone hear exactly what you are talking about. It just makes great sense to me. We are talking about music and equipment, and no words can replace what your ears can hear.

Re: Tag was right!
My comment/question was directed at dogears. You can "hear" differences in power tubes at those levels but again, what difference does it make because very little of the good stuff happens with power tubes at those levels. You like what you like and that's fine.

I cranked the amp.... The Siemens I got were just not as good as the other stuff. Maybe from a bad run or era.

I've been giving a new quad of Tung Sol STR's and they seem to do a fine job so far.
I probably have 10 hours on them.
