What to do What to do?
Ok so I have a set of transofrmers that I could use to build a 5E3 circuit but think with some help from people here can come up with something more interesting.
The power transformer is rated at 120mA - 315-0-315V at a 120V primary and has a 5 and 6.3V winding.
The output transformer is a Hmamond 1750E - 8K Pri to 8R Sec.
Im hoping people can point me in the right direction here for something different from a 5E3.

Re: What to do What to do?
6v6 powered plexi or jcm800
Re: What to do What to do?
Any good schematics out there ?
Re: What to do What to do?
6V6 Trainwreck Rocket.
Re: What to do What to do?
I think the 5E3 is pretty interesting
Re: What to do What to do?
I've built a 5e3 before and I agree they are great amps im just looking to do something different with iron on hand. Is there a schematic around for that 6v6 Rocket all I've been able to see is a layout.
Re: What to do What to do?
I second James' motion: 6V6 Plexi or 6V6 JCM800. I've built both using 345-0-345 with a 20W rated Marshally 8k OT and they are smokin' amps with killer tone. However 300 or your 315-0-315 would be better and well suited to either build.
Re: What to do What to do?
Nothing wrong with Colossal's ideas
Here is the layout that Tom (Structo) posted.

Re: What to do What to do?
You've some great recommendations here. I've done plenty of plexis, '800s and Rockets with similar transformers and 6V6s and all were loads of fun. Don't forget the Express circuit...it's a hoot at 15-20 watts!
Re: What to do What to do?
That structo layout didn't load but I found it anyway. It looks pretty cool. Do you guys know if the use of multicap cans make much of a difference in a build like that?
Re: What to do What to do?
don't go too crazy. that output trannie is princeton sized----quite small---far smaller than a 18w marshall trannie (which is the same size as fender bandmaster/pro style trannie). rh
Re: What to do What to do?
I actually prefer can caps.
Re: What to do What to do?
Good to know about the caps Fowler.
As far as the design goes I can always upgrade to a larger OT. If it calls for something like and 18Watter then ill get one to make it work. This is why im asking questions first. If the 1750E is too small then someone will hopefully let me know before I blow suomething. Research and planning for the win here.

Re: What to do What to do?
If you use a zener diode you could reduce that HT voltage down to say 280 or 290v and then run EL84's for a 15-18w Rocket. Otherwise the 310 should work for the 6V6 tubes.
The OT you noted is rated at 15w 120mA so that should work especially at 8K.
RHinson don't you think he could get by with both the PT and OT the original poster noted?

Re: What to do What to do?
I actually got a hold of Tom(structo) and he provided me with the attached schematic. Based on the idea of my 315V rectified with a 5u4 so multiply 1.19 you get 375 B+. That kind of voltage is what I saw in my 5e3 build using he 1750E with a bias working at about 12W. In Toms layout he notes to set the cathode resistors for a dissipation of around 11W. Im not sure if hes talking 11W per tube or total here. If its per tube we are probably higher than the 1750E will handle and I can get a beefier tranformer. If not I can use the 1750E.
