Expression transformer questions

Post by ncusack »

Hello Im new to the forum and have been researching the Expression amp for a new build project. I have a Power transformer that was salvaged from an old Baldwin organ. The transformer is stamped C512-029863
and has the following readings with a 110V primary

High Voltage 271-0-271
There is also a 70% tap
32V w/CT
6V
5V

my wall voltages are more like 120v so everything is a little higher in real application. The organ amp it came out of used to run 4 el84 power tubes and 4 12ax7's so the heater winding should be within spec for an Express amp.

Please let me know if this makes sense or if im off the mark completely.

It's probably good. Does it show any power rating...which might be in V/A terms ?

Unfortunately all I have to go on is that serial number that stamped on it and that led me to it coming out of a Baldwin organ. I did the voltage testing on a variac myself. I wish there were amperage ratings but its an older transformer. It is pretty heavy though so Id say it can handle the required current.
