HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Post by Structo »

To all my fellow tube heads and guitarists.

Interestingly, I was measuring voltages in my 100w amp today and they kept changing. I was getting some screwy voltages.
I'm getting to know this amp pretty good and the values I was getting didn't line up with what I have measured before.

Then it dawned on me.
It's Thanksgiving and there are a lot of ovens and stoves turning on to cook the turkeys.
When I had started probing, the wall voltage was 122vac.

That's kind of high, it's usually 120vac here.

Well sure enough, I measured the wall voltage again and it was down to 118vac!

I need to get a variac.......

Happy Thanksgiving Amp Garage! :D

Happy Thanxgiving to All!

Although we now live in Canada, and we had our Thanxgiving on October 11, we lived in the States for 25 years until about 18 months ago.

Old habits are hard to break, so we are having a roast chicken stuffed with garlic and lemon tonite to remind ourselves of all those great years in America!

Tom,
I've also noticed differences in wall voltages. Mine can fluctuate between like 120V in the morning to 127V in the evening. This happens all the time. Used to drive me nuts. I would adjust my PI trimmer in the morning and have my amp sounding real sweet, with nice harmonics and bloom. Then I'd play it that night and wonder WTF happened.
I finally got a deal on EBay for a Furman regulator. That really helped stablize things.

Happy Thanksgiving to all you guys (and gals). I really value all your opinions and knowledge.
