Nice build tubedog ! Wish I had that much room for the relays on my chassis. How's she sound? Chadtubedogsmith wrote:Here's an oversea's 50 watt chassis I just converted to 100 watt. Clean master added on the front, FET gain and presence knobs added to the back. It came out great.

Tubedogsmith,
Are those chassis wider than the CE chassis?
Sure looks like it has more room than the chassis I got.
I thought I had tons of room until I started stuffing boards and things in it.

They are wider/deeper. I have a CE and Asian chassis.

Re: 50 Watt to 100 Watt Conversion
I think it's about three quarters of an inch wider. I cut my main board to 2 3/8" wide as well so that may be some difference too.
It's a pretty cool sounding amp, very different from the 80's and later stuff. The amp doesn't seem to add as much "distortion" to the sound even though the push you get seems very similar to later models. Great attribute I think. Works very well with all my guitars, strats, tele's and LP's, 335's. Most of the later styles take some work to get going with strats especially. Definately a great addition to the stable.

Re: 50 Watt to 100 Watt Conversion
OK, thanks.
I used the board I got from Watts Audio as it was already 2.875" or 2 7/8" so I didn't mess with it.
In hindsight, it would have made it a little easier if the board was a little narrower as it really got cramped in ther.
Especially with the larger filter cap board. (due to using the Sprague Powerlytics)

Re: 50 Watt to 100 Watt Conversion
Tom,
Did you get your 100 watt working yet? If so, how does it compare to the 50 watt? In your opinion, are there enough benefits that make it work the trouble to convert to the larger amp?
Thanks,
Ken
