heyboer or any of the others will do trannies with EITHER bells with the mounts built in OR bells and 4 separate "L" brackets (ie---like the tds/matchless trannies, etc. have) that run the full lam edge. they are plenty strong to hold any trannie----MUCH thicker than than the standard bell end with integral feet. i like the separate brackets a lot because they usually have a bit of vertical play----enough so that you can even screw mount some parts over the top of the trannie. rh

I didn't know that. Thats actually really good to know.

It's not a problem that the PT will fail, it's the heat it generates radiating on other things that affect the tone. PT's can run way hotter than you could bear to touch and they will still be fine......it just doesn't give you that warm fuzzy feeling.

That's good to know. The mag comp JTM45 PT I've got does run hotter than I would like. One of the power tubes is really close so it probably gets a lot of residual heat. Tone seems fine though.

Another trick is to use washers on the tranny mount.

Smaller ones on top but larger fender type washers on the inside of the chassis.

Makes the foot print bigger and less likely to bend.

I did that and Andy LaBlanc, a good guy, gave me some crap about using fender washers. It was all in fun!
