So far I have not been able to find them either...let me know if you do.
Thing is, if you look at the design of these pots, their intended for guitar pots...and who uses 1m in the body?
BTW, these have been the secret (ie rebuilding the guitar) to making my amps 100 percent humm and hiss free (also tried about 10 brands of caps, only 2 passed, and not the ones people tend to tought as the best, but seems few know the truth). Took a lot of testing to get it right In a good build all that BS noise comes from the guitar......amps are dead quite when done right.

Very interesting work you have done on guitars, what are the two cap brands that passed??briane wrote:So far I have not been able to find them either...let me know if you do.

Re: CTS Pots?
I have bought brand new 1 Meg CTS Pots at my local music store, they are branded as Fender guitar pots.talbany wrote:I am currently in the process of rebuilding on of my personal amps and want to replace the Alpha's with CTS ..I have everything but the 2 1M Master/Vol does anyone have a source that sells Nos or used ones in good shape.. Googling for "fender cts 1M pot" I get links like: http://www.thefind.com/instruments/info-1-meg-pots
However, you asked for NOS pots....hmm don't know where to find those.

Re: CTS Pots?
Tony, if you just want a few Hoffman Amplifiers sells them. The CTS pots have a real slow taper though. If you're one of those guys that likes everything set at noon, well..... After resisting Alpha's for years I'm using them in almost everything now and I really like them, taper, sound, the whole enchilada.

						Re: CTS Pots?
Are you looking for the CTS brand specifically or the older 30% audio taper pots? I know a few of the builders have had 30% tapers produced for their amps, but they're not available to the general public. I'm willing to get updated pricing on a few values with 30% tapers if there's interest. I'm sure it would take forever to recoup my initial investment with 1000 pc minimums, but it's something I've been wanting to experiment with my personal builds.

Re: CTS Pots?
I am doing just that experimenting with the exact same pot types (2-35 treble etc.) as Dumble used.. I have already done 1 amp with positive results..Now I want to do another to make sure it's just not the one amp talking.. So far my experiment's yielding favorable results..I hate scrounging!!
Thanks for the reply's!

I could possibly take at least 10-15 of a few values if that would be of any help. Thanks, Chadjborders5 wrote:Are you looking for the CTS brand specifically or the older 30% audio taper pots? Re: CTS Pots?
mojo sells special NOS current production pots.
I've had luck at supply houses, ham fests, government auctions, and Ebay. But you have to be patient and search. If it's really a deal breaker you could by an older amp and harvest parts i.e. traynor Mark 3
I'm assuming you are looking for the 15% taper.
You might want to research which manufactures also used the CTS pots incase you find a rebranded pot i.e. Zenith used CTS.

Re: CTS Pots?
Try getting a quote on CTS pots from one of the asian diestributors, they are actually cheaper than going to CTS directly, go figure..... I was looking for a 1M 30% taper with push-pull switch and they were about $1.00 cheaper per pot (with shipping included). You still going to have to order 1000 pieces.jborders5 wrote:Are you looking for the CTS brand specifically or the older 30% audio taper pots? Re: CTS Pots?
Actually I use custom Alpha 30% taper in all our amps.. My experiment here lately is to compare these to the same ones he used ..2-35 taper treble pot and the 30% taper original CTS to see if there were noticeable differences.. One thing I have noticed is with the 2-35 tapers on the treble is I get a much broader sweep on the treble pot..Thought I would mention

Re: CTS Pots?
I do the same, custom Apha 30's in 250K, 500K and 1M. I really the 30% taper for the treble control (it may not be what HAD did), but it feels better. They also did a oool dual gang for me that was 250K30 and 50K15.

I am not so sure I like the 2-35 treble pot that much better or worth chasing down why..although it's and audio taper it acts very linear in circuit.. Is it different in a good way or bad way those must decide.. I can say for those wanting more of a Fendery type vibe the 2-35 is a noticeable difference and recommend it for those chasing that sort of tone (Clean channel).. The 2-35 set on 6 just like a Fender seems to be the sweet spot for those pots..They also translate to a very smooth OD tone in a non HRM(also subjective).. The one I have tried them in.. For what it's worth..
