Nice work, Mark. Any opportunity to record any clips?
Re: New Reverb Rocket build
Thanks Ron, still fine tuning the amp tonight and checking voltages.

Here is how that bias control is wired.

Re: New Reverb Rocket build
Well I had a bad OT so after tearing my amp apart looking at other things I finally decided it was the OT causing a fuzzy tone and not enough power. I cleaned it up and she is working fine now.
Thanks to rj and his buddy got the tranny in two days, thanks guys.

Re: New Reverb Rocket build
That amp came out great Mark, great job!! What are the odds of a bad OT?
Will look forward to a clip or two
Re: New Reverb Rocket build
Thanks Dave, I was on a chase for few days
Had this weird tone and seemed underpowered also the plates were 316 on one side and 321 on the other.
So after testing and changing out caps and reading voltages and resistor values I said out she goes and that is what the problem was.

Very cool Mark, looks real good.
Two questions...
The HT switch, how is that, much tonenal variation?
Also where are you getting that perf board?

Re: New Reverb Rocket build
Thanks Chris,
The turret board is from CE Distribution or tubesandmore sister company.
They have other colors and 1/16 boards as well. These are 1/8 inch.
With the low power you get a little more compression so it would break up earlier. I lowered the V1 plate from 220k to 120k less gain and changed out the dropping string to allow more voltage.
The 18w switch works well too, giving that lower volume with nice breakup.
I like diming the tone controls and use the cut control and brite switch that is bluesville.

Re: New Reverb Rocket build
Here is my final schematic with correct values I used.
The dropping resistors on the PS were 18K/3w then 10k and 8k1 to bring up the voltage to the preamp section.

Re: New Reverb Rocket build
your boost is switching in a 1uf cap over the 1.5k resistor
your bright is switching between a 500pf or 100pf
can tell what the switch chooses between on the thin/bass one

Re: New Reverb Rocket build
Looks like the thin/bass switch toggles between a 56pf and a .0022uf. The 56pf appears to be the default setting. When the switch is engaged into the circuit, it allows the .0022uf to bypass the 56pf, for added bass.paisley_tele wrote:your boost is switching in a 1uf cap over the 1.5k resistor

Just guessing.
Re: New Reverb Rocket build
Hey Mark,
I am loving your front faceplate appearance. Very "1960s Space Age". Very unique and completely awesome. It looks so cool that I am trying to imagine what the perfect compliment of cabinet would look like. I keep thinking of an unfinished sort of dark wood cabinet with a removable top piece (a la vintage Traynors). But really with faceplate stylings that awesome, you can put it in anything.
So, do you feel like you lose anything compared to a non-reverb type rocket tone-wise, or does it do it all, plus reverb?
Anyways, I just wanted to say, "I'm impressed", and I appreciate what you are showing us.

Re: New Reverb Rocket build
Mark,
Nice build! I just finished helping a guy here fix a few problems with his build, so it's interesting to see some variations on the Rocket.
I don't see your master on your final schematic however,..which circuit did you use? I always put a pot in place of the "upper" PI splitter resistor,...no additional parts required.

Wow!
Beautiful job on that one Mark.
Love the silver face and dial knobs.
