Re: Layout of the Ford Amp #102
maybe doesn't apply, but i could add the info of dumbleator with a choke, and special length cables made of 18ga coax of some sort.

Info on the D-lator would be wonderful..keep in mind the layout of #102 and the others done were taken from actual amps first hand and would prefer they stay cataloged that way to avoid any confusion.. If you have first hand info specs on Robbens lator we could gladly add it to the layout .. If not you can most surely post it here just label it accordingly so people don't get confused and think the specs were taken from the real deal.. This is all I ask..Either way I and most likely others here still hope you will still post it..Thanks

Just stumbled over this picture from Rob Liveseys files. Its a glimse of Robbens D'lator, but I guess it does not offer any substantial info.

Re: Layout of the Ford Amp #102
thats basically the info i had.. you can see the choke in the dumbleator.. and the pic of the cables, plus it has been posted that they are 18ga coax. still curious if the 40/40uf cap is really correct in the amp.
thanks!
thanks!
Re: Layout of the Ford Amp #102
If you are referring to the 40/40 V1 V2 cap yes it is correct..

I am compltely sure that all the Dumblelators with a choke I know of do only have two controls and not three like the one in this layout: "Drive" to control the amount of signal that is send from the Dumblelator to the effects and "Recover" to control the amount of signal that is send from the Dumblelator to the power amp.
The only original Dumblelators with three pots I know of are the stereo Dumblelators because they have of course two "Recover" controls and each one with its own "bright" switch. So stereo Dumblelators have one Drive control, two Recover controls and three bright switches.
Have a nice weekend,
Max

Max,
There is a mono Dumbleator out there with the open frame choke and three knobs. The added knob controls the sensitivity of the return stage.

Thanks Max/Jelle
Here is the one I based the layout on mono no choke 3 knob.. Just sub the pot for 220K..

yes, I know this one, too, and because of this I wrote
"all the Dumblelators with a choke I know of do only have two controls"
All with choke I know of have only two control knobs, just like Robben Ford's. And as far as I know not all of the mono Dumblelators with or without choke do have exactly the same circuit (but I am familiar with only three mono Dumblelators). And IMO more controls need more coax lenght and for my ears coax cables have all their own influence on tone and timbre (and I am not talking about the influence of only the capacitance).
And these differences between the circuits of different mono Dumblelators are no surprise in my opinion, because Alexander did of course know with which one of his amps precisely and with what kind of effect/s and cable lenghts etc. each of the Dumblelators was planned to be used, and will perhaps have built each one a bit different to match best into the planned setup of the complete signal chain. But this is of course only one of the possible reasons for these differences between their cicuits and only guessing.
All the best,
Max
