Geez....i must be a musical genius. Somehow i got thru 25 years of gigs with one and occasionally 2 guitars and 1 or 2 amps! Good thing i didn't know that was impossible at the time!

Funny thing is, guys like that are the ones that need it least. The guy could get more tones out of one fender and one gibson and a versitile amp then most could get out of everything guitar center has in stock on any given day !
I would have to probably cite him as the player who gets the most with the least in respect to technique. Not that he doesn't have technique, but it's not that ultra fast precise "how the heck can he play that" kind of technique. But he's one of those guys that makes one note count more than other guys do with 50, and in ways you'd never think of doing yourself. definately one player that impresses me musically much more than most.

I know from a very reliable source that Mayer has 60+ Dumbles. Let's assume a $50k purchase price of each, that's only $3M. Pocket change for Mr. Mayer.
