ODS #104

Post by UltraHookedOnPhonix »

Here's an interesting pic of #104. Looks like it's been updated to HRM and had a op-amp driven loop installed.

From what I understand, it was owned by Andy Brauer. It has a classic stack with 220K/150K plates. 4.7uf on all stages, no HF taper and a 100K slope resistor.

I thought it would be beneficial posting this pic as it's just a few amps away from Robben's #102.

Hi Ultra,

thanks for posting. Do you know if he removed the snubbers? Or are they still installed? And if so, what are their values? And still the Tandy RG59 or white Teflon?

Thanks again and a great day,

Max

No, I don't know if he removed the snubbs or their values.

Judging by the size of the outside dimension of the heatshrink just below the HRM board, I'd wager that this amp has maintained the RG59.

You're welcome, likewise!

How did you find out about the slope and under goo stuff? Fwiw, this is not the Brauer amp Andy Fuchs had in case there is some confusion.

Then there is some confusion… :?

About this picture, my notes say #104 built in 1982, maybe Andy F could chime in?

I relied on your statement for brief circuit info on #104 from this thread:

I can’t remember where I scooped-up the notion that it has a 100K slope with no HF taper though. I’m certain it’s from this forum though.

Regardless, it certainly fits the bill of being an early #100s ODS (in it's original state).

Hi Ultra,

do you know of any kind of confirmation or "proof", that the SS loop buffer has been fitted by Alexander Dumble?

Cheers,

Max

No, I wish I did.

I would assume that if the owner of the amp put an OA loop in, it would have to be done after Alexander HRM'd it.

Looks like the square red caps are 1uF Panasonic ECQ-V caps and the power to the IC is dropped by a large power resistor. Seems weird!

Also, the OT looks like something other than coming from a Twin/Showman. Perhaps it's a different manufacturer's take on a Twin-type OT?
