effects loop

Post by andrew »

Hi , I have a ground scheme set up like the Express and two pots for an effects loop are located on the back wall behind the first tube. They also are connected to the preamp ground buss. As I do not have any isolated jacks for the send and return (to be wired to the buss) can I use non isolated jacks and have their ground points on the back wall near the pots?.I just received my parts order and didn't about the jacks. Thanks for any advice.

Try it and see. If it hums, disconnect them from the preamp ground buss and leave them grounded at the chassis. Where in the circuit did you add the loop?

Thanks for the reply, after the third gain stage I have a master volume then an effects loop.I was lacking for space so I have the first triode circuit of the FX on the main board and the second triode curcuit located closer to the back wall.I connected both of the triode grounds and the FX pots to the buss in the area near the PI. (The tube circuit and the pots have their own separate wire to the buss) I haven't tried it yet because my supplier left out ONE resistor from my order. Any day now...

If the MV is maxed is the signal to the loop too strong? Can you post your schematic ?

I couldn't get a serial one to work right so I put a parallel one in mine after the 3rd stage. Keeps reverb/echo after the clipping of the 3rd stage. Otherwise the reverb/echo got squashed by the 3rd's clipping/compression. MV post PI.
If it says "Vintage" on it, -it isn't.
