Hi Tony, one question on the #40 layout that you've been maintaining (which if I haven't said before, thanks!!!) - the V1B coupler you show a .047, but the photos all seem to show .01 - at least if the mid-cap is .01 then it looks as though the V1B coupler is the same size.
I had the 70's amp that I built and wound up selling to a friend of mine back over the weekend. I always thought it sounded a bit boxy and blamed the speaker (a WGS G12-65), but I went back and updated to match the layout you did - man what a difference. The proper bass pot network and V2 couplers make a huge difference. I did not try the .047 on V1B, I left the .01 that was there and it sounded great, so I didn't mess with it.
One point here is that for anyone looking to build a 70's amp - follow that layout and you will be spot on. Gil, it would be great to see you building again, especially this circuit - go ahead and fall off the wagon
Regards,
Bill

I hope you are well and thanks for the shout out on the cap.
.
Due to the resurgence in popularity of the earlier circuits I am working on a revision of the #40 layout to a period correct 2nd generation ODS 50w taken from an actual specimen.. Therefore it will be very accurate and contain more than enough info for those wanting to build this type 2nd generation era amp..
Instead of posting a revision of the #40 if you and others would be kind and patient with me while I scour over the details I promise it will be worth the wait..
All the best to you..
Tony
