Good ear!! Bill said he added a bit of upper "chime" to that amp. I bet thats what you are hearing.CHIP wrote:The Custom 100 has more high end chirp, but I like the way #183 handles it's high end chirp.
Still, both sound damn good to me.

OK,
Here is a remixed Artist doing Revelation and Fords Dumble. IMO, its as close as an amp can get. I am using a different guitar, speakers, cab, a Boss DD2 and RV2
, and a Boss BR900 recorder.
Any differences would simply be players touch, EQ settings, mic placement ETC ETC.

I have a BR900 too, but I certainly haven't been able to make those kinds of recordings. Excellent, sir. Very well done! Fantastic tones!Mr Dumble wrote:OK,

Hooray!!! Guys actually agreeing with me for a change! Lol!
Seriously, the Artist can do any of Fords tones with ease. Its an amazing amp I just kind of stumbled on. See, sometimes cheaper parts sound better! The Sig 1 supoosedly had the "better" parts, but the Artist's cheap parts sound much better IMO.
Give me the TONE! Thanks for checking it out, and I am really glad you like it.

Pink Unicorns and Magical Flying Horses!!
Reinventing the rules of physics with this one Tag. It is impossible for the Artist to nail all the tones. The circuit is a basic Skyline. It doesn't have the Ojai tweaks for instance. Therefore, it cannot do those tones. Not even close. No puffery here please.
Here are a few examples of what the Artist cannot remotely touch. Not even a slight bit. Furthermore, for me, these are the unobtanium grail, not Revelation which is the easiest and most basic Dumble tone Robben has had. Listen to the lowend harmonic complexity on Rugged Road. The Artist has NONE of it.

Max. Do not quote out of context. What I wrote was that in the blues clip that was in that post, I was not dialing in the smooth Ford thing, but a harmonically richer tone that I had found in #183. The Artsit can do the smooth Ford thing in its sleep.

His best sounds was two tubesecreamers (don't know if he used both at the same time or one at a time) into a red knob fender twin rental. Really great sounds and playing. It was part of the 'handfull of blues' tour. Just sayin'

On the original album this track (Prison of Love) was cut with a Deluxe Reverb, not the Dumble.
