Tube-Based Dumblesque Pedal?

Post by rsalinger »

Hi all,

I was wondering, if anyone has had any success building a high-voltage (as opposed to 'starved plate') tube-based Dumblesque pedal.

Thanks,
Rob

Hi again,

Over at the Soldano-aficionado Board (Yesterday's Revolt), they've been successfully building/cloning Soldano GTO Supercharger Distortion/preamp pedals, as per the attatched files.

Seeing as the gain structure of the Soldano Supercharger shares some common ground with the Overdrive Special... Would cap substitution and value-tweaking be enough to push the GTO away from its characteristic high-gain "buzzy hornets-nest-of-a-tone"... which to me is something akin to sitting through a chain-saw overture in three movements, whilst having a toothache, in the Orchestra pit... and, bring it closer to the buttery, full-bodied, Dumblesque, Tawny-tones that we all know and love?

Thanks,
Rob
