I have an Epi Blues Custom 30 with a power tube index pin broken off in the socket. The sockets are PCB mounted so the PCB blocks the top of the socket...pushing the piece thru isn't an option.
I have all of it out except the round end that would be the top of the pin. I've come up with a plan of using Weldon16 cement on the end of a plastic rod to glue the piece to the rod. Then ease it out of the socket. I use the cement for small laminations and guitar bindings so I know it has a strong bond once cured.
Can anyone think of a reason not to use this method? Or perhaps an alternative method to remove it?
Peace,
Mark

should be fine the only "IF" is how neat you are with the glue so you only get it on what you want to remove.
Tweezers work too
have you tried breaking it and pulling it out in pieces.
you could drill it out with a drill press using a stop so it's not going to go throught the PCB

Well, it's out. My plan to use the Weldon16 cement worked like a charm. I cut two small pieces of .060" plastic binding and glued them together on their sides. I then cut a notch in the end that was deep enough to reach the bottom of the socket and narrow enough that it didn't touch the sides of the socket.

With the amp upside down, I then applied a small dab of cement to the end of the binding and eased it into the socket. It centered itself due to the curvature of the remaining plastic pin in the socket. I held it in place for about a minute until the cement started to take hold, then let it cure over night.
This morning I was able to slowly pull it from the bottom of the socket. It eased up to the top and then popped out...breaking into smaller pieces as it cleared the edge.
All clean and clear.
Peace,
Mark

Nicely done!
The key to success with WeldOn is patience as you observed by leaving it over night.
