Bassman 50W ODS build
Here's a soundclip of my Bassman build based on the 50W ODS. Recorded via a simple Zoom H4 recorder using the built-in mics. It is what it is, clams and all.

Sounds good Bob keep jamming.
I picked up one of those Zoom H4 recorders I need to make some recordings too.

That's great! Phil
Re: Bassman 50W ODS build
Thanks guys for the kudos. The recorder used was an H2 not the H4. FWIW, I thought the top end clarity was there live, but the H2 didn't capture it. Although I was listening to it on axis, the recorder was off axis. I'll try it again standing off axis, then readjust.

Can we see some pix?

David,
This build is over 2 years ago, and didn't take any pics, but can next time I pull the chassis. Nothing really new but here's the layout / discussion. It was based on Normsters Bassman build.

Re: Bassman 50W ODS build
Thanks Tom. When can we expect a new clip from you?
Re: Bassman 50W ODS build
Well I have the SM57 now and I need to figure out what interface to use between it and the PC.
I used to use Cakewalk and I plugged my POD straight in.
So I will need an adapter when I finally figure out how to do it.
What are you guys using with your microphones? M Box?

I've built a Neve 1272 clone from Seventh Circle Technology, which goes into a MOTU soundcard and use Cubase as recorder/sequenser.Structo wrote:![]()

Diva or not? - Respect for Mr. D's work....)

The SM57 is a good choice for a guitar amp mike.Structo wrote:![]()

You have any number of choices for interfaces between XLR and the PC. You can get a USB interface like this one from Alesis...

Or a USB recording interface like this one...
http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/pr ... sku=580350
Or a USB mixer like this one...
http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/pr ... sku=801473
Or get a full DAW setup like dogears posted recently.
The choices are limited only by your budget.

Great sounding clip, cool build, gotta love recycling old amps.

They don't give those away do they.
I'm thinking about trying the mic input on my sound card.
I have what was a high end sound card a few years ago.
If I adapt the XLR to a mini phone plug it may work.
The sound card even has a boost which may help a dynamic mic like the 57.

Re: Bassman 50W ODS build
Not likely it'll sound all that good but worth a try. What you need is a decent quality mike preamp which the soundcard most likely doesn't have.Structo wrote: Thanks for the info Bob.

No they don't give them away but you can get something decent for $100.
