Re: Bassman Ten ODS layout
Thanks Bob-I, but I don't have the original cab and will build one from scratch, so as long as this is the only conflicting issue I can make it work. Besides, the capacitors would leave little room for the filament transformer on the opposite side of the OT. Almost sounds like I'm in the clear.

Re: Bassman Ten ODS layout
I was wondering, would having the choke over by the v1 end of the chassis be problematic?

Frankly when it comes to placement of those type of devices, I just go by what the master did. (HAD)
For instance on my D'lite (50w) I installed a choke.
I put it between the PT and OT. Pretty tight fit with maybe an inch or so between the transformers and choke.
I didn't get any added noise.
I would prefer a little more distance but it is what it is.

Re: Bassman Ten ODS layout
I'm just trying to work with the components and the layout that are available to myself.
I was thinking of putting the Relay transformer and choke right next to each other in between the OT and PT, but the only way to really fit them there is to have the end bells facing each other, and I'm under the assumption that this is not ideal.

Re: Bassman Ten ODS layout
Hello everyone,
So I took some advice and did the "headphone test" on the transformer layout. They way I proposed for the layout definitely was as noisy as could be, unless I orient the transformer with the mounting wings on the side which in that case would be very hard to mount.
The only place I could find to mount the transformer that would fit and only induce minimum hum was over on the v1 end of the chassis. Would this work, or would this induce noise into the circuit itself too easy?
Thanks for the time and help!

Re: Bassman Ten ODS layout
Relay PT on v1 side of chassis, would this cause too much interference?

Re: Bassman Ten ODS layout
You have a large empty spot below the PT use that area (inside the chassis).

Re: Bassman Ten ODS layout
The area by the tube sockets is where v7 is going, and the area where the rectifier and pilot light go has the huge angled lip from the chassis front limiting real estate heavily. The transformer I have is just too big to fit. If I have to I'll try and search for a small enough transformer to fit, but I'd like to learn about any other possible layouts.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Use the Radio Shack 6-0-6 tranformer for relay power.

Re: Bassman Ten ODS layout
OK I went ahead and bought the radioshack transformer, hope it fits.
I got to thinking as to why the Bassman Ten has the v1 and v2 so close, and v3 so far away, and it occurred to me that the distance left unoccupied is directly in front of the top mounted capacitors. Perhaps this layout is prone to interfering with the preamp tubes? I might have to rethink some things.

Re: Bassman Ten ODS layout
So, I got the radioshack tranny installed, thanks for the push in the right direction.
I'm still wondering about the capacitor layout in relation to the preamp tubes, like I had previously mentioned. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge behind this arrangement and whether or not it will be problematic?
Here a pic of the Dumble Bandmaster from the file section; must not be too problematic then I assume.
Thank you
