ya know, everything toneslinger has said I pretty much presumed after buying 2 black gold 50's from him. The reverb was the only thing that I liked about his amps. After reading much about the kind of guy ken was, and knowing gerald was a pure salesman, I'm sure he tried to shiester ken. Ken's amps are fine tuned instruments that walk a tightrope. It would be tough for a snake oil salesman posing as an amp guru to properly tune that kind of an amp. Go onto weber's site and check out the blather on the gerald weber signature amp. He calls ken "that eccentric amp builder from New Jersey" What a dickhead.
I remember that full page add Ken supposedly took out in vintage guitar mag. In huge print The add said "My health is bad but I am taking orders for a limited number of builds for 15,000 each." It struck me as out of character for Ken to do that. Toneslinger has helped to vindicate ken on that account.

I used to speak to Ken on the phone at kendrickmac0611 wrote:ya know, everything toneslinger has said I pretty much presumed after buying 2 black gold 50's from him. he taught me alot about marshall amps and speakers
the guy could recite speaker code numbers off his head.
I know Gerald took Kens letter and just rewrote it the way he wanted
it to sound.....
I know he changed what Ken wrote to begin with because it did not
say what the white fish salesman from Houston said it did.
I have no reason to steer anyone wrong about that.
Ken was such a nice guy and so smart...
Gerald gleamed most of his stuff from aspens book
and the rca manual and some other books...
Ken taught mr limpet alot as well.
Gerald has no soul or ethics and he could care less
Ken really knew his stuff Id speak to him for hours
about how to mic marshall cabs and even something
he called the "marshall knock".
He said to mic a 4 12 behind the cab at an angle
to pick up that knock.
I said that makes no sense to me why mic behind
the cab where no sound is ?
He said you pick up ambient sound and that knock
when those cabs are pushing air and really cranked
there is a specific Knock they make.
He told me Jimmy page did this in the studio
I think he got that from Eddie Kramer.
I told Ken what speakers were in my basket weaves
and he knew instantly by code which were original and
which one was reconed.
That was 18 or 19 years ago now.
But I know the rhetoric webber puts out.
I worked for the con man I should know.
Ken was so sick he could not stay awake then
he told me he would just be so tired he could not
hold a soldering iron or stay awake.
Gerald should burn in hell for what he did to Ken.
He will.

"Toneslinger" sure knows how to sling it!
Hey, if anybody's interested - Toneslinger's real name is Ron Fry. He is well known in the Austin area for being a lying flake.
Take everything he says and flush it down the toilet, because he is totally full of himself, and totally full of sh*t.

What alanp?
You buyin' what ol' Ron's sellin'.
Come on man. You KNOW this guy's a nut case.
Everybody here had to start with a first post. And so what if I want to keep my profile under wraps?
I normally try to avoid pissing matches with idiots like Ron, but I decided to make an exception in this case.
And I may bail on this nonsense very soon anyway. You see - I have a life - and I realize that this kind of low brow garbage never ends.
You can't win in these situations, because some "jackass" always will chime in, trying to assert/insert himself.
You guys know the drill.

Oh...hey Gerald.
Only thing I have against you is those mods in the "Hip Guide" book.
Encourages hacks to destroy otherwise good SF Fenders.
True we all started somewhere and I did learn a lot from that book.
Especially from the KF Trainwreck pages.

If he's so full of it, why do you even care to reply? After the crap you pulled with me I'd tend to believe him.

I ain't Gerald Weber. I did business with Steve Brown, and happen to know that "Toneslinger" is misrepresenting his relationship with him. Steve was a cool guy who deserves to rest in peace, not be f*cked with by the likes of Ron Fry AKA "Toneslinger". Fry is a loser.mac0611 wrote:If he's so full of it, why do you even care to reply? Toneslinger? I believe everything you have said here, and yes, I read your other post, too. The fact that GW even has an audience anywhere amazes me, actually.
Well, that said, I think GW is not entirely to blame for what he became, you know? We all contributed to that by being so naive about a hobby/passion/career that didn't/doesn't map out the good people from the bad. Eh, so live and learn, that's the path. Everyone with eyes and ears will one day understand who GW was. I seriously doubt one single product he has ever made will muster a resale price of more than its retail price - very unlike a Fender amp even. Time will put things in order, count on it.
And one thing learned in the passing of time is the good person that Ken was. Who can argue this? Frankly, to me, Toneslinger, the mere fact that you have Ken 'right', speaks volumes about what you have to say about GW. The fact that GD insists on posting your name and not his - and how would I know what your name is, BTW? - speaks to me of his blind loyalty to GW.
Wow, GD, you need to find a better hero. Maybe take a look at somebody like Ken?

Most people stall out when fixing a mistake that they've made. Why?

Rooster, the fact that you believe a fool like Ron Fry, is what amazes me. And when did I say GW was my hero? Did you miss my point about Steve Brown? You are defending someone who is not a person of integrity and who is known in the Austin area as an unstable nut.
I guess if I hated GW - only then would I have any credibility with people like you.
I KNEW this would be an exercise in futility.

Wanting to stay out of the pissing contest , I own # 4 of the run . I received a call from Ken , then from Gerald and dealt with Jim Finney . Was a smooth purchase and the amp was amazing right out of the box .Canary wood and 2x10 . Never a stray noise or problem . I still have the stock tube compliment in it . Replaced the blackframes with a Weber P10R and a Blue pup . Just slays . Even have to say the innards are like artwork . No caps on the pots or any of the problems I've heard of . Sounds like Stevie on one side and Huge Marshall goodness on the lead side . No bass flub . Just screaming smooth sweet sustain . I would say from Chris Isaaks wicked game to Brian Adams Run to you . Its all their . Then you plug into a 4x12 Marshall and the lead channel says game over . My $.02 since I was quoted earlier in the thread .
Loves to be variaced at 90 volts for a bit less volume and warmth . Gotta explore the 10-50 bias range to find your tone . Its a great amp . I use an ABY box . And also blend the channels together at times for insane tones .

Kendrick New JoyZee Trainwreck Climax (KendWreck?) Amp Kit
Rather than revive this old thread, I'd like to start a new one for anyone owning and interested in this amp (going forward). Just got one and want to bring it up to it's full potential as it looks to have promise.
New Post is here;
