Road cases

Post by Gibsonman63 »

I need to protect my baby, so I can show her off at mygigs. Does anyone have a recomendation for a supplier of road cases for a Trainwreck style build.

I emailed three companies on Monday for quotes, but no response from any of them. Not even the auto response that you usually get when submitting a query.

I guess business is so good that they are not interested in my little order.

If your not taking it on a plane (needs to be ATA approved), you might consider making your own. Finding one that's the right size for a TW may be impossible, and I have a feeling that once you see the quotes for a custom head case, you may think that money is better spent elsewhere, like towards a new build, pickups, etc. Materials wouldn't be much: wood, latches, rubber feet, high-density foam, vinyl covering if you like. keep in mind do to the amp no having handles of it's own you want a live in tray / lift off lid. if you want to proteck you need 3/8" ATA if you want to sorta protect and keep the dust off 1/4" is fine but it does flex a bit which may cause the foam to rub the finish over long distances or travel.

The trick isn't to call 3 places it's to call 30 , 60, 100 and make them battle for your business there is huge price mark up on cases. the materials for a head case are about $50 in bulk and most are built in 2 hours since they are set up to pump out cases. $200 an hour in labor? seriously they have room to move.
