George Jetson's rig...

Post by Baxtercat »

I have another Frankenstein...low budget of course, using scavenged parts and lumber. I've gigged it out 3 or 4 times already. It sounds good and is a great way to meet girls [well, not].
It was some stripped organ chassis [running two 6973's] and its two trannies. Now it's got a pair of 12A*7s and 4 Sovtek 6P3S's [the ones marketed as 6L6's years ago]. [IMG:480:640]http://i914.photobucket.com/albums/ac34 ... pdone1.jpg[/img]

I put an EV Force 12-incher inside. The box is wrapped w/ Tiki fabric and thinned Mod Podge. Luckily I had some large radio knobs saved. They spin but that's about it. The real controls are accessed from the back, where I wired up the preamp, pilot light, on/off switch, input jack, and so forth.

Here's my lil Fendery board [there are new stronger cap nodes upstream].

I learned a bunch—for instance, how to make a cathode bias scheme...and what to do when there's no center tap. It also needed a doubler to get up to 400v [about 370 between the R and the plates now].

I added some blue LEDs [I'm not sure why... it's hideous back there, Har!]

The neat OT...

Super cool!

Can you see the glow thru the material on the front?

That's great! Really impressive, you've picked up where Electrosonic Amps left off.

An emulsion from the craft store. I've been using it on amps and guitars now for a long while. A great way to get fake Tolex...in any pattern.
I also used it to glitter up this $85 kit Strat.

You can't see the blue from the front so I added a little bezel w/ 6 LEDs where a Philco or Magnovox badge might go some day. :)

SWEET! :D

There was a similar amp I have seen pictures of.
The cab was square on the one I saw but the legs were similar.
I like the wacky shape, way to go! :D

Electrosonic amps, i believe closed up shop earlier this year but they were into crazy shapes and finishes. Googled Electrosonic Amps but the website is gone now but you can find images out there. http://www.google.ca/images?q=electroso ... =en&tab=wi

Yeah those are similar but the one I am thinking of is a vintage amp and has a square shaped cab.
I believe someone here had one.

But I think the odd shape adds a lot to the vibe and I love that design! :D
