Just scored tickets for Joe Bonamassa on Dec 3rd at the Florida Theatre, in the front row of what they call the Loge section (first 4 rows of the balcony) - sweeeeet!

Check out the Van Weelden dumble clone. Sweet amp!

Joes a great guy and player.
He was in town last August for our annual Blues Fest and very easy to talk to. He has so many guitars and amps, how does he decided what to use this tour.

Re: Bonamassa!
Other than Joe B, who else uses the Van Weelden? One issue of Guitar Player shows guitars & amps owned by Joe B. Does your head spin around?
Re: Bonamassa!
I know - can't wait to see his amp lineup this time around.
btw, what's with the plexiglass shield in front of his Marshall head and cab in this video? Lower stage volume? Protection from flying beer bottles?

Re: Bonamassa!
Most likely to tame stage volume since the Marshalls carry a lot of top end it also keeps the ice picks low.

Joe's show from Royal Albert Hall was on Palladia last night. Good show. Eric Clapton was a guest for one number. Quite a thrill, I imagine.

Re: Bonamassa!
I was there for the Royal Albert Hall show and it was a great show, but to be honest I think he's much better playing the smaller clubs when it's less of a spectacle and more of a raw performance.

Re: Bonamassa!
A friend had front row seats when Bonamassa played in Fort Worth and he brought me along! Amazing show, one of his amps was a Carol Ann. Best concert I have ever been to.
Re: Bonamassa!
The wife and I watched his Albert Hall concert last night on Palladia in Hi Def 5.1 surround.
He has to have the best live tone going these days.
Going to a concert of his would be awesome!

He also has some prodigious stage volume since he uses 4 100W heads, with two of them on at any one time, and likes power tube distortion. The Clearsonic panels don't make that much difference!
I wear musician's earplugs whenever I go to his shows.

Re: Bonamassa!
Actually, I expected it to be real loud on the front row, however, the stage volume wasn't that loud. We were sitting below and a little in front of the house PA, I suspect it was much louder behind us.
Re: Bonamassa!
That is probably the ideal seating spot for a loud concert.
I hate being in the direct line of fire from the PA speakers.

Re: Bonamassa!
Joe does have gorgeous tones. He also has a VERY fluid technique. I just don't find the majority of his music compelling. It's like it's too sterile or white, for lack of a better term. Is it just me or what? Enlighten me if you please.
Re: Bonamassa!
I think he just keeps getting better all the time.
To me he plays with a lot of passion and emotion.
But hey, everybody doesn't have to like him. That's why there are as many artists as there are, to please the masses.
Have you listened to the Ballad of John Henry CD?
I love that one.
I want to get his latest as well.
