The PT has a 260v winding and a 290v winding
I thought it was a 260v and a 300v.
Also can't see the pics clear enough..but are the octal sockets turned the correct position? looks 180 out. Maybe just me,i can 't see the pic clear enough.. Not that they won't work that way..but if your wanting to follow the exact layout, then it might make a difference.

As for the caps.. maybe the Sprague aren't what they used to be either.
I've had alot of bads ones, and quit using them. The F&T and many others should be fine.

Richie

Your're right it is 300 instead of 290v. This is from Moose's website:

Power Transformer
Primary: 120V
HV Taps: 300 - 260 - 0 - 260 - 300 (300mA)
Heater Tap: 6.3V (7.5A)
Rectifier Tap: 5V (3A)

good eye Richie - pin 1 should be pointing towards the front of the chassis -i just bought the parts here and the chassis was already wired up - i would have eventually figured that out when i redid the heaters. ;)

the three diodes one each output tube are a tonal thing?

i noticed this after i wired the outut tubes with a 1 ohm resistor so i could bias the amp.

Just cheap insurance. They're supposed to protect your tranny if a tube shorts.

so decision time.
do i build exactly and use the diodes?
or do i wire it up with a 1 ohm resistor as i currently have it?

(pins 8 & 1 are tie together and the 1 ohm resistor runs from pin 1 to ground )

doesnt the 1 ohm resistor provide that issurance as well?

also what r guys using the 5200 or the 6600? or is one ofr 6v6 and one for el34?

Use the 6600 tap for the Express. Leave the leads if you want to experiment with the 5200 tap.

You can always add the diodes at a later date. Have at it!

The diodes just run to ground so your probably safe bypassing the resistor and running them from pin 3 to the ground lug.

Those big 16AWG brown wires are the heaters. The brown/white is the heater CT. For an Express you want to use the 300VAC wires.
