Relay Boards

Post by mcrracer »

I am placing an order for the pc boards and parts used to make the three relay version of the relay board that Ampdoc used to supply. I have his blessing on doing this.I want to get a feel whether it is worth it to get a number of boards made or just a few for myself. Most of the cost is in the setup so I only want to order these once. Do any of you guys need any of these relay switching boards?

Good idea, if we could get several folks into the buy, would be good.

I checked into this myself.....with the screened info and 2 boards, was pretty pricey. But we don't need the fancy lettering, so is cheaper.

This one has three relays and the associated components with thre LEDs also. A very nice unit . Very professional. Ampdoc did a wonderful job. I am going to get the version with the screen printing...just looks a lot better and not that much more expensive in quantity. Just trying to decide how many to order.

I'd probably buy one or two if it includes the power supply, too. I concur: ampdoc did a great job, and managed to price them very reasonably. Sure makes life easier!

5V or 12V

Post by David Root »

Will these be 5V or 12V relays? Relays included or not?

I did a test order on these very boards, $252 for 2 boards with the screened info on them. I did not check however, on an order of say like 10-20 etc.
Getting them un-screened would be cheaper. You can still decipher location info on the boards.

These are bare boards.....no components. You can run at 5 or 12 volts, your choice. If you have a 5V tap, run the taps to the built PS on the relay board.......... a couple of small caps and a Bridge recto fit on the relay board.

I would not use the PS function for 12V when using a 6-0-6 tranny........the filter caps are too big for the board. Just make a small 2" X 3" PS board to a T220 Regulator and run the regulated 12V to the appropriate connections.

5V and yes all the parts are included and installed.
I believe Ampdoc was selling them around $50 complete. Unless there is a major increase in the parts price I should be able to offer a similar price.

I guess I could offer some bare boards also if someone wanted them. I could not price something like that until I know the final quantity I am going to order. I am wanting to order at least 100 if there is a need.

100 is a quantity that should give a good price break.
I would want one bare, and one loaded.
It would be a couple of weeks before I can swing it.
I barely stayed on budget with the last build (as the wife knits her eyebrows at me). LOL......................

I will wait about two weeks to see how much interest there is before making an ordering decision.

mcracer, I can confirm ampdoc's most recent price was $50 each c/w 5V relays and PS, as I bought a couple recently. He only has a few, if any, left.

Ampdoc gave me his blessing as well, I almost ordered a batch a couple of weeks ago. I would be interested if you sell them unloaded.

I just test ordered a 100(2 layer, standard service), quoted a 5 day lead time and even with two day shipping option, the price is very, very reasonable at that piece rate.
