Stipulating that Tag may at any moment change his mind and that the thread is sooooooooooooooooo long (18 pages today): He did state in post #166 on page 12 that he was buying one (a Redplate MDD).
Yep, he did. And, the amp he is demoing is being sent to me to try. I look forward to it!
Henry is a great dude and makes wonderful stuff. He deserves all the success he gets!

Well..... had a little amp fest today. The Redplate, my old Dumble, my new twoRock Sig V1 (supossedly???), and an old twoRock SigV1. Amazing how bad musical memory is. The Dumble is still king. Easily. More sustain, smoother, and harmonically rich than all of the other amps with the closest being the old SigV1. The Redplate probably had the best cleans of the group, but the least flexable with only overal tone, presence and the blackface, brown and tweed settings. Great cleans, no doubt! In overdrive, it was a mixed bag compared to the Dumble. It was not nearly as smooth, and could not do the singing wooden flute thing nearly as well. The old twoRock Sig V1 is the closest to the Dumble in overdrive and cleans. My big headache is my new SigV1. It could not hang with any of the other amps. Its either to dark and muddy, or to bright and buzzy. This is NOTHING like the older sig1, and I have to talk to Tworock tomorrow to see what can be done. I am not happy with the amp at ALL. It needs to sound like the old sig1s, and I will be VERY happy!
This one sounds very much like my old sigV2 that I did not dig, and took a huge loss on after only a week.
All in all, the Redplate is a super cool amp in the Dumble style, with loads of different tones and directions you can go. The Dumble is off the charts. No weaknesses. Fantastic across the board. The original twoRock SigV1s are incredible amps, and can get you closer to an actual Dumble than anything out there along with Customs and artists. My new V1.....help is needed.
Not a pure Dumble amp FWIW. I am certain that is where TAG's main tonal interests lie as do most here. OD sections owe much to the Dumble camp but, front end is way different. Different strokes and all. In my opinion the amp has more strokes. Cudos to Henry for sending an amp around for folks to try. A bold move sending it to some of the biggest Dumble amp disciples I can think of. And good on them for being open minded in assessing it because it is different. And there is much going on there. I look forward to hearing the impressions and CLIPS!!
Good time to be a guitar player with so many amps to choose from - from all the great builders here. I'd like to try a Glaswerks........and a Bludotone a CarolAnn... VVT.... Quinn... hint......

This is it!! This is the review!!.. This is what spawned an 18 or so page on The Gear Page..Doesn't do the singing wooden flute thing and is off the charts no weaknesses.. Come on man speak the lingo..Really surprising isn't it that he say's the Dumble beats everything hands down.. I am shocked!!..Gee I wonder why a 20+ year old amp is smoother than a new one..Let me plug into Henry's amp I'll make it sound KILLER!!.. I'll wait for Scott's review..
Just because you bought a Dumble doesn't make anyone an expert on tone.. TAKE NOTE!!!
My Dumble does the Dumble thing the best!! WTF

" The psychics on my bench is the same as Dumble'"
Let's see now, if I had an amp that I was wanting to unload, or maybe even if I was just endowed with an overdeveloped sense of braggadocio, why would I say anything that would burst the hype bubble?
With all due respect to Tag, I spent mucho quality time with his Dumble and it is indeed one magical amp!! One of the best I ever played. So, no hype there.
I have no doubt the amp is magical and sounds wonderful.. My trouble lies in the review itself and the hype that surrounds it.. To take an amp that is 20 + years compare that amp with one built using parts and transformers made 2 decades later not to mention the time on the amp compare them under a microscope to an original is an un fair comparison to start .. Anyone with any amp building experiance will know this and consider it in the review..( Scott I know you know this just getting your recent Bludo with seasoned iron I know you can tell the difference).. This is a big part of why Tag likes the amp so much but won't admit it or doesn't know it..However in the process saying other builders amps don't sound as good in a inarticulate review URKS me....I tried to tell him this before he was axed here and didn't believe it..It's all coming true now.. Builders beware
Iv'e said my Peace

I've been away from this site for awhile so I missed this thread. Here's a gut shot of what all the fuss is about Picture was taken before the amp was tested so there is no silicone holding the caps or wire routings before the final blessing.
