The isolation channel is a must! great post!!!

i built my studio back in washington in '99 walls were 3ft+ thick.
the sound channel or Z strip works well to isolate upper frequency but to remove sub sonic and low end. it takes mass. I floated the floors on "U" blocks and filled in the under the sub floor with sand. then built the subfloor up about 3" before covering in cork. I cut the concrete slab for each room for isolation. the walls were built around cynder blocks tied together with rebar and filled with sand. then sheet rock howdy board sheet rock, 6" air gap and reverse / repeat Z strip sheet rock. finished in hardwood / stone / or diffusion. same sort of deal on the ceiling isolated duct work blown batting insulation and hanging false ceiling to act as a trap. factor in all the acoustically correct angles and you have one of the most expensive wastes of space possible from a designer's point of view! but a very nice sounding isolated space to record in.

For this project i'm just going to hang diffusers based on the skyline and some custom diffusion on the walls behind the drum kit to act as wall art and break up a bit of the slap back. nothing to intense or needed for recording isolation.
The room doesn't even have a door, the wife loves it!

Is that microwave stock or did you mod it ? How does it sound ?
Are you a fan of Dr. Z or just fixing it ? :D

Love the firebird. Thinking about building me one of those. Naturally it will be a goldtop with cream binding.

Gibson custom shop released a copper top 3 Mini humbucker pickup firebird that is just stunning!

I love everything about the firebird except how it hangs has anyone had luck balancing them out? The neck always ends up in the air like an upright bass at the worst possible time.

Sweet setup!

:D That was good, I should modify that microwave.

Mike Zaite, Dr Z, was selling his blemished cabs so I bought four of those smaller red cabs, 1 EZG 50 cab and one 212 combo cab. Built a Route 66 in one, Rocket reverb in second one, AO-35 in third and SwampThing SE EL34 in the fourth.

I have more amps not in the picture and the gigging equipment is in the trailer. Mostly cheap guitars.

Yeah I hate playing shows with my nice guitars but I haven't had time to fix all of the cheap ones .

Now Mark's tone secret is out! That is a highly modded Kenmore Hi Gain Long Wave Frequency Modulator with footswitchable rotisserie!

Great collection Mark! I love that Squier shredder, great collection of amps too!

Thanks Dave,

Hehee :!: what a secret. Oh the fuse was good in the microwave so what to check for next?

That Squire shredder was at a pawn shop got for $118 with gig bag and that pup rocks. Neck is good needs the frets filed so I should send it to Tom (Structo) for some work. :)

As you can see I don't even have half of the amps I built in the pictures.

I need to get organized. Right after I build my son's house. Blew my right knee out doing all that house building work so now I'm up a creek. Still wiring, then insulate and sheet rock before finish work. Why did my wife volunteer me? :?

Srubelva59, that SC245 is fantastic. I have been losing sleep over getting a McCarty Sunburst SC245...just incredible guitars.

The PRS is the only guitar I look at when I'm in the guitar shop drooling. Just can't come up with the cash yet.

I really like G&L 3-pickup ASATs:

I also like old Fender and Marshall heads made into 1x12 combos:

[IMG:800:628]http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o285 ... aster1.jpg[/img]

This one (no logo) is a 1977 JMP 2204:

I love 'em and play 'em all. I got tired of carrying a speaker cab...

I'm thinking about doing something stupid... that SC245 is my muse...they are discontinued too so limited to stock still on hand at dealers. There is the new 25th Anniversary McCarty SC245, but actually I prefer the more modest SC245 with bird inlays sans neck and body binding.
