Clips of 100W High Plate Non HRM.

I've just recorded some clips of my 100W Non-HRM ODS clone which I'd really appreciate any comments/suggestions on how you think it could be improved.

The amp started life 18 months ago as a stock High Plate ODS 101 in a Funk chassis and having gone through many changes, has ended up back at the start except that it has 180K resistor fed from the .005uf cap on OD2 plate, 47pF on the MV for use with D'lator. OD trimmer is set to @ 24k to ground.

V1 voltages are @ 190v and V2 @ 205v. Bypass caps are all 5uF.

The clips were recorded with a borrowed TC interface into Cubase at home, so if you have any tips on how I could make improvements here, they will be graciously received.

I used my home made chambered guitar in bridge pos. with a JB humbucker for clips 2/3. Clip 1 uses the same guitar but with coil tapped '59 neck p/u.

I used my home made 1x12 EVM-L ported cab.

A D'lator was used on clips 1 and 2 and the D'lator recovery was used as a MV. They were recorded at low ish volume. So no controllable feedback. I've only ever managed that by using a boost pedal. I would love to know how others achieve this on their clips!

I really admire scratch builds such as this. My second kit is on its way and I hope I will eventually acquire the skills for a complex build from scratch.

Thanks rogb, I've got an 8ft Klotz cable in the loop, no FX's. They were added in Cubase. Room reverb and 116ms delay.

Knowing the quality of clips you guys have posted, it's pretty intimidating posting clips around here. I was hoping not to embarrass myself too much.

Local guitarist that I respect, have been pretty cool and underwhelmed in their comments, so it's hard to know what to think. Having said that though, they are either die hard Marshall or hard core Fender guys. We don't often get to see/experience the real deal D*mbles or even the clones that often, where I live.

Did you record it as set in the picture? If so those are some great tones for the masters being so low.

I would bet no way..... Paul said he used the 'lator recovery as a MV. Also, he said he has a 47pf bright cap. There is zero way that the clips, which sounded great, were recorded with the master at 1.

I can't think of a thing I'd want different. Odd that I always though Robben played Life Song through a Fender amp, most likely a Super, but you nailed the tone (and the song) with the Dumble clean. Just great stuff!!

On another note, while Tag's exDumble did not nail JingChi tones or Handful of Blues tones, it did nail the OD tone on Life Song. Just perfect....

I love the clean sound with the EVM12L, they are a perfect match.
