FET Input: Any other circuits worth trying?

I know many players don't even use the FET input. I had it in there for awhile but it didn't sound that great so I never used it.

I've read it was originally supposed to be an input for an acoustic guitar pickup. But advances in acoustic guitar amplification would seem to have made this function obsolete.

Has anyone had any good experiences with other circuits in the FET position?
