Fender/Dumble thread at TGP?

Re: Fender/Dumble thread at TGP?
I read thru the thread. Nothing substantial there. However, it wouln't surprise me from the Fender business point of view. MUCH easier than investing in some original thought. Neither Fender nor Gibbo have had an original thought in, oh, about 40 years. I've seen the guts on most of the Fender reissues--cheapest components on the planet. Yuck. If they DO make a Dumble, it'll probably have to be rebuilt to get tone that anyone but Britney Spears could love. But, alas, with so much Baby Boomer disposable income to be had, what's an amp company to do?

It's well known that Leo Fender never had an orignal thought, he admitted that all he does is steal ideas and market them. The Strat was simply a Bigsby solid body copy, the amps were all taken from tube manuals and all Leo did was the math.rfgordon wrote:MUCH easier than investing in some original thought.

You have looked at vintage Fender's right? Same thing. Leo put a 35 watt tranny into the 45 watt 5F6-A because he never expected them to last.
I expect it'll sound just like a Hot Rod Deluxe... complete junk.Yuck. If they DO make a Dumble, it'll probably have to be rebuilt to get tone that anyone but Britney Spears could love. But, alas, with so much Baby Boomer disposable income to be had, what's an amp company to do?
HAD's strongest asset is his amazing ear. Fender never will be able to duplicate that.

As rfgordon said, they'll be going after us baby boomers, most of whom will never hear a real Dumble, and even fewer who are crazy enough to try building their own amps. I wonder if the Fender boys have bought a Fuchs yet. PCB, consistently good tone, Andy...you paying attention to this?
