I don't have any electronic background so I was reading voltages in my express and it made me curious that my heather voltage was 3.5vac. So I posted the question if my amp had a problem. When my roomate showed up I asked same question and when I showed him the reading he laughed and told me u only read dc to ground and not ac and that is why my voltage was only half///

passfan sorry I just erased my last posting because it was embarrasing, LOL

Well the correct term would be the center tap as in 3.5-0-3.5 , 0 does not necessarily mean ground. And , you must have a complete circuit to read any voltage. For example my heater circuit is elevated off my B+ at the first preamp tube so my 0 center tap point is +35 volts DC. My heaters don't care because all they see is the difference in the winding of 3.5-+35-3.5 . It's still only 7 volts between legs so , ground means 0 volts at earths potential and not the center tap of a transformer unless you send center tap to ground.redshark wrote:passfan sorry I just erased my last posting because it was embarrasing, LOL

Just remember not to ground yourself and everythings cool.
