Dumbleator PC Board

Post by ampdoc1 »

Has anyone here made and sold/sells a PC board for the DL'ator? I'm doing a copy of an amp I made a few years ago, but I used point to point in it.

If not, is anyone interest in buying a DL'ator PC board? I've got one designed up that I will buy a couple of pieces for from Express PC, but the price goes way down if you order more than the minimum.

Attached is the EPC layout. This is to the "original" specs and values for the most part. Size is ~ 4" x 2 1/4".

Thanks,
ampdoc1

I just edited this to add the components to allow Parallel Mode

Doc, I'm curious how you came up with the values on the pcb?

For example, on the local feedback loop, you have two 22M when the original has two 10M. The 10K?
Some others have me scratching my head as well.
It appears to be a double sided board so maybe that is confusing me.
How is the 220K divider connected on your board?

I thought it was agreed upon that the schematic below was what the real deal was, besides the parallel components?

Sorry if I am not getting it. PCB's have never been my strong point.

Sorry,

I lost this thread and never answered. Attached is the first D-lator schematic I picked off the net 5-6 years ago. I know some of the suggested values have changed, but I built one like this and it works/sounds great, so I haven't bothered to upgrade.

I know the DS board is confusing, I added holes for jumpers throughout so both sides of the are identical, thereby doubling the trace thickness.

If you see any problems, please let me know. I've spent months laying out a new set of boards to duplicate an amp I built in '05, but with PCBs.

The one thing that jumps out is the 10K on the cathode follower.
I remember Scott saying that it sets the bias point on the follower and should be adjusted to get around 30v on the cathode.

But perhaps that works with your power supply.

And the bypass cap on the recovery amp is known to be a 47uF.

I found the .001uF bright cap to be way over the top bright so I changed it to a 330pf if I recall.

Also I had to lower the value of the 220K in the 220K/500pf filter as my amp sounded way too dark at that value.
