...the small sized 5x20mm fuses as the main fuse on the A/C line in an amp? the reason i ask is i wanted to save the trouble and space of a seperate fuseholder by using one of those A/C receptacles that has a fuse holder built into it. But they are the small size fuses. As far as i know they are 125v where the larger ones are 250v. Not sure whether that matters. fender uses the small ones a lot.

5x20mm fuses are generally rated for 250VAC, at least if they're CE marked. ON mains side you'll need a "T" fuse (T is for Time delay or "Träge = Slow in german) A 1Amp fuse will thus be marked T2A/250V

20mm fuses are used all throughout Europe - for 220V. No problem.
T1A is 1A slow blow.....???

Nothing wrong with using 5x20mm fuses. Although all of mine are rated at 250V. I've only done one build with a separate fuse holder. I think the fused IEC jacks are the best way to go. Especially if you're short on space. Now,if only they could design one that requires something like a single 1 1/4" diameter hole - just drill it & snap it in.

Ok, i see now. the ones i looked at all said 125v, so as long as i know you can get them at 250v then even if theres a question it's no problem. Thanks

In my experience, they cost a bit more. Otherwise, same thing as the bigger ones.

I built one amp with those. I found that I had to order them from McMaster to get the value I prefered. They have some at Radio Shack, but it's not like the normal size.

Doesn't matter....due to where i had to order certain parts i ended up not having that option unless i wanted to order on $2 part from a certain place and pay $8 shipping. I'll stick with the normal dedicated fuse holder. I have several new ones anyways.
