Finally tried a Fuchs
So i finally tried a Fuchs TDS 100 today and all I can say is WOW. It's incredibly responsive, so much its almost scary. It was so touch sensative and i love how bloomy it was. my only two complaints are that the TDS is pretty confusing at first and it didnt seem to have as much rich harmonics as my modified ceriatone. but for $2100 for the head and cab i may pull the trigger i have serious GAS right now

One of my student hipped me to this band, Umphrey's McGee. The guitar players get a mean tone. I checked out a YouTube video of them and sure enough at least one of the guitarists was using a Fuchs.

ha thats pretty funny because the guitar player Jake Cinninger of Umphrey's was what got me into Fuchs in the first placeguitarjazz wrote:One of my student hipped me to this band, Umphrey's McGee. It's puzzling to me to try and figure out what the music trends are these days.
If I were to go by what I hear blasting out of kids cars I would think rap or hip hop is what they listen to but it is probably just because of the bass content of that stuff because they can show off their sub-woofer system.
I miss hearing new good hard rock on the radio unless it is an oldies station.
What's on your Ipod?

One intersting point,to me,
is that Andy Fuchs has his own recipe.
Judging from what I have seen, there are no RN 65 resistors in his amps, only a few PS Orange Drops, PCBs , different layout etc.
Still, his amps deliver convincing tones.
A lesson to be learned here?

Re: Finally tried a Fuchs
I'd love to use RN series resistors, however they are not RoHs compliant, and since we export product globally, we cannot use them. The metal films we presently use are quiet, and sound good. We use a mixture of Orange drops and Xicons to taste. As far as bloom and so forth, the amp has a number of internal trimmers on the B and C drive channels, and can be tuned to taste.
Thanks for the kind words. That's one heck of a deal on that amp.

The Fuchs TDS 100 sounds good and so does the rest of the line-up.
My kids well their young adults now have rap blasting out of their cars too but they also come over and down load my Rock and come listen to my band play as well. They have quite a variety in music taste.

Speaking of metal film resistors I seem to only be able to find the short lead resistors any advice on where to get the longer leads or product code.

Andy, may I ask what metal films you use successfully?FUCHSAUDIO wrote:I'd love to use RN series resistors, however they are not RoHs compliant, and since we export product globally, we cannot use them. The metal films we presently use are quiet, and sound good.
