Johnny it is best to call Steve at Apex Jr. on the phone.
He operates a electronics surplus store that is huge from what I gather so his website doesn't always reflect what he has on hand.
The only caveat is that he has a $20 minimum order.

20 bucks is ok since i would need 7 of them and could stand to grab a few other items i can always use. I just hope he does walk in sales.

Give Steve a call or he will probably pop in here any second to reply himself

Unless i'm missing something, it says $2.50 on that page. it lists ALLEN-BRADLEY, OHMITE, CLAROSTAT, PEC, and REON and says Used $1, new surplus $2.50 each. I may go that route if he has them in the values i need and they'll fit.I do like PEC but at $9.95 per pop I use them sparingly

Re: home brew possibly bound for the trash can
I know, but what i meant was if they have those sealed pots like clarostat or pec etc in the right values and if they fit i might go for those. Those are uber high quality compared to open pots, and at $2.50 what the heck....thats less than a buck apiece more to have much better quality pots. They just don't say anything on that page about the taper. As long as they're audio thats fine. I don't care if the mid pot is linear. It just acts as a variable resistor.

I do watch this forum and if your only 3 miles from the new warehouseM Fowler wrote:Give Steve a call or he will probably pop in here any second to reply himself
you should stop by. Remember I just consoladated my 3 warehouses
and moved to a 6000 sq ft warehouse in Torrance. I'm not in La
Crescenta any more.
Since I put the picture of the Mil-Spec RV4 type pots I have sold out
of all the Audio ones I had in stock. I do have a large stock of linears
along with the Bourns pots. The RV4 pots at $2.50 are new surplus
Also since I'm a one man operation please give me a call and make
sure I'll be there.
Plus I do have more in stock than what's on the website.

Re: home brew possibly bound for the trash can
Precision Electronics makes sealed pots that are excellent IMO. I also noticed that they are way smoother in phase cancelling MV position with a much more gradual increase instead of the off/on effect 1M audio Alpha pots wil have in the same application. If nothing else, I would use the Precisions for MV and volume controls as they have a nice taper, are sealed, hence, no scratching. They are about $8 each at CEDIST, worth every penny.iknowjohnny wrote:Thanks, i need all i can get!
If it sounds like it did before i'm going to build a new board with all new components and wire and get all new sockets. This one has been thru too much and i need it to be dependable. This was mainly my fault, but the slop factor has just made it too fragile to depend on.
by the way, anyone know of a brand/model of pots that are better quality than those alpha but not a lot more? preferably with longer threads too, as i use a plexi front over a printer paper face, and the thickness makes some pots unusable.

Re: home brew possibly bound for the trash can
I already have the pots, but i will certainly look into those for the master if i feel i need it once built.
Steve....sorry, i already got the pots elsewhere. i would have been happy to buy them from you but the $20 minimum made it easier to buy where i got most of my parts for the new amp. they were a bit more, but i couldn't find anything on your site i needed to get from $11 to $20.

Just for the future, if you come to the warehouse I will sell
less than $20.00 to anyone. Just call 1st. Being a one man
operation I'm not always at the warehouse.
It's just for shipping I have the $20.00 minimum order.

Unfortunately i no longer live near you since you moved to Torrance. Otherwise i would have contemplated that.
