"Nancy" Trainwreck is featured in the May issue of Vintage Guitar.
it gives a little of the history of the amp owned by Matte Henderson, and some info about Mr. Fisher and some components used (transformers ect.)
Wreck fans should check it out
One part talks about Henry Kaiser(in 1990) having 8 "Dumbles" and this new Trainwreck amp.and inviting Henderson to record, excited to play a Dumble... he plugged into the Trainwreck and had to have one.
Interesting reading

Henry does get around doesn't he.
Probably doesn't hurt to have a magnate as a father.
He also appears to be good friends with Dr. Dumble.
Anybody know for sure if Dr. D holds a PHD?

That's it I'm emailing Vintage Guitar, I can't believe mine still hasn't arrived. Guess the postal boys are done reading it yet.

Interesting article. They mention "clones" too.
I really wonder if the new reissues, specially express and liverpools will be up to the level of Kenny's amps.

It also mentions the over 15 various types of transformers used after the Stancor supply ran out!!!!
I wonder where Hunter gets his information from for his articles regarding TW history.

That experimentation with diferent trannies after the Stancor was included in Dave Hunter's Amp book. The information was given by Kenny himself in an interview where they discussed many topics including wire, tubes and transformers, very good interview by the way.

The Dr. part of Dr. D is purely honorific. I'm not even sure he graduated high school. If I recall what I've read of his bio, I think he was in his high school years, or shortly thereafter, when he was building the Mosrite amps for the Ventures. That could be way off, though. Some of those biographical details are hard to place in time, from what I've read.
He seems to be quite thoroughly self-taught, rather than a schooled engineer, which may explain why he's got such good intuition about components relating to tone.
When CBS-Fender brought in all the aerospace engineers in 1966-67 the amps started getting icky.
Sometimes that there book larnin' ain't whatcha need!
