I'm really digging the bloom of the D amps.

Very nice! Interesting mix of old and modern components. No reverb. Just what I have planned in a Princeton package, but with more modern changes.

Please elaborate on your build, I see what looks like the original Calrad top mounted relay but also what looks like a Ceriatone three-relay board. More pots and fewer slide switches. OD entrance trimmer instead of the 1M/180K fixed divider.

What tubes work for you in this one?

David, where do you see the Calrad relay?

If you mean that thing that is between the power tube and phase inverter,
that is a switch for the OT primaries. The D'lites come with a dual primary OT so you can run 6V6 and 6L6 power tubes.

You're in the middle of the build?
If so don't forget the bass pot isn't wired directly to the buss bar, there should be a tail resistor.

Why don't you try using a choke?? I am preferring choke over resistor these days.....

Also, if you use the .05 midcap, you may want to try a 100K slope classic stack. In my experience, the .05 midcap works best in the tradional classic. If you go Skyline, with the 150K slope, I much prefer the standard .01 midcap.

Food for thought....

Calrad Relay

Post by David Root »

My mistake! It's about where it should be I think if it were the Calrad relay. I shoulda looked a little closer!

Also ignore my comment about the fixed divider. Got the entrance mixed up with the OD exit.

I like the sag that resistor gives. I have a choke in my bluemonkey.

Nice work. Did you make the cabs?

Jim Weyandt built the cabs for all of my amps. Jim does great work.
