How do I adjust plate voltages?

I did that comparison together with Steven.
I was my first dlator build;
When setting the knobs on the amp and dlator right, the difference is even bigger. I also use a bigger bright cap on the amp.

Erwin, Thanks for that great clip, BTW.erwin_ve wrote:I did that comparison together with Steven.

There's also a suggested mod for the Klein here:

FWIW it's all about tube vs. fet. I like tube more.
Re: How do I adjust plate voltages?
Erwin,
Did you try those suggested Klein mods; I think you posted saying you might.
If so, what did you hear as any changes?

Re: How do I adjust plate voltages?
No I didn't because the commercial version already has those changes and that's the one we tested.LPSGME wrote:Erwin,

When I was an electrician in the submarine service, one of the things that I had to maintain was vent fog precipitators - basically a 10kV power supply hooked to an electrode down the middle of a pipe to take oil vapors out of the atmosphere. My division officer was NOT trained in EE nor could he keep his hands off gear that I laid out on the bench top for troubleshooting and maintenance. I finally got tired of discharging power supplies...
Re: How do I adjust plate voltages?
Heheheh, yeah it can be fun!
When I was in junior high school we had a nutty metal shop teacher.
He really was a kid at heart.
Well he also taught a small engine class (lawn mower engines).
The old engines had a condenser (capacitor) for the ignition system.
He would charge one of those up then say catch! and he would toss it to a student.
Well of course the student would get shocked.
I can't remember how much voltage he put on them but it was enough to get your attention.
Somebody must have complained because he didn't do it anymore after the first few months of school.....

The Malaysia-Lator or the Rip- Me-Off-Lator
I like the Malaysia-Lator it has a real cheap sound to it.

Re: How do I adjust plate voltages?
Surely you are not suggesting (by 'cheap') that Ceriatone parts are critically not as good as those found in the 'lators that others make...or67plexi wrote:The Malaysia-Lator or the Rip- Me-Off-Lator

(by 'Rip-Me-Off') that a Ceriatone's layout is a rip, whereas the 'lator designs used by others are not.
...because I don't see how that's the case.
Re: How do I adjust plate voltages?
Oh it's just some sour grapes due to some goings on when Nik started building the clones.
The cloners are mad at other cloners.

I think someone should start selling Ceriatone clones.Structo wrote:Oh it's just some sour grapes due to some goings on when Nik started building the clones.
