Vox Night Train tubes?
No it ain't a wreck but it likes to act like one in the"THICK" mode(tone stack lifted). It can get out of control pretty fast, and wants to squeal like a pig if the gain is high. This amp seems to be great at pointing out microphonic tubes.Any suggestions on tubes for this amp,NOS/new production??thnkx..

Re: Vox Night Train tubes?
Slagg,
For the Trainwreck Rocket - a direct descendant of the AC-30, there has been pretty good luck with the Saratov EL-84's in the output section.

He will likely have a suggestion for preamp tubes as well.
Send him a note and see what he reccomends.

Mark Huss doesn't sell tubes, he graciously hosts a web page for Terry Kilgore, aka. Sgt. Overdrive, aka. Tube Tramp.no reply
You should contact Terry directly: terry_kilgore2003 AT yahoo.com (replace AT by @)
Oh, and if you don't find standard 6P14's, the basic Sovtek EL84 is exactly the same tube and works very nicely. Note that the EV version - as well as all other superior grades of 6P14's - don't exist under the Sovtek label.
