Follow the layout and build guide in the Trainwreck Files section here and it'll be a lot easier for you and everyone else, since component references, etc. will make sense to all of us.

That and the layouts and build guide have been gone over by so many critical eyes that they should be pretty easy to follow.

Tw liverpoll chassis,trannys

Post by ampmike »

Hey Man,
Where can I get a chassis for the liverpool build Also it looks like the heyboyers are the correct transformers. And info for sources in a scratch build would really be appreciated.I was going to do the ceriatone with mercury trannies but I think the real deal is the heyboyers,So Imm going to attemp the build from scratch. Scratch build Liverpool

Post by ampmike »

Hey Guys, I decided to scratch build the TW liverpool,My guestion in the TW files it has a nice layout and very clear printable chassis layout but he states "Let me know if you see anything wrong"Can I assume that this is by now tried and tested and accurate. In other words is that the closest to the Liverpool Ken built. Also GK told me that mallory caps and pacific transformers are key to getting close to the real amp.Anyway I appreciate any advice this is a great forumn,Thanks Mike C.

There shouldn't be anything wrong with it, but it's E&OE and hence the comment!

You'll probably want the Heyboer 5K2 output for this since I think we're only getting 6K6 (Express) Pacifics at the moment. Allyn or RJ will be able to confirm.

The Heyboer is a fantastic transformer in a Liverpool build.

Thanks Man ,Ill use theRLW V1.1 layout and the BOM,I going to start getting parts together,Should I use the heyboyers than specified in the BOM.I know Im not going to nail an exact TW Liverpool but it will be fun trying and as long as I get a good start with the right trannys and chassis I can always keep tweeking.I was going to do the cieritone with mercurys but the more i read the more I find the scratch build and useing the foremn will produce a better amp hopefully,Thanx a bunch,Mike C.

You want the Heyboer HTS-5199 PT and the HTS-9633 OT for a Liverpool.

See RJ Guitars in this thread for purchase details:
https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=10507

And you can nail an exact Liverpool if you take it slow and do it right!

It's well worth doing right. 8)

Yes, "he" being me..... It's a generic disclaimer that I add because I'm not perfect by a long shot (it's a re-do of another layout by Tim Hulsey, and mistakes do happen), and this is not a production document by an OEM and therefore interpretive in nature.

The reason that most of the documentation is very accurate is because of the keen eyes and sharp minds that hang out here- they have helped fine tune things quite well.
