I just won an eBay auction 280461421334 a lot of 7 clarostat pots
(5) 53c1 - 1 Meg
(2) 53c1 - 5k

any chance these would have been used in an original tw?

C1's have the 2" shaft. They will have to be cut. This are cool pots but not the originals. The originals are TRW/CTS (pick-a-shafts).

Allyn were those TRW//CTS pots of a high quality?

The trouble I have with most pots is the thread length by the time they go through the chassis and face plate most are too short and that is the reason I have been using the Bourns pots from Apex.

use a 1/16" faceplate instead of the 1/8" faceplate and you can use standard pots and jacks.
