looking for source for aluminum pedal stock

Does anyone know where I can purchase the raw parts that make up the footswitches commonly used by Fender and Carvin?

its aluminum channel, old old ones were cast, some were a piece of
chromed sheet metal,on a hunk of wood.

I would be surprised if that isn't a custom extrusion that Fender spec'ed. Maybe searching around for extruded shapes would yield something similar, or perhaps Hammond or somebody might be offering small enclosures made in a similar way.

Or, maybe just buy the Fender box, take it apart and see if you can slide the panel with the printing on it out. Then make your own replacement panel. At $24, you might be ahead if you only want a few.

I have an old carvin amp that uses the same type of pedal enclosure. I wouldn't think it would be custom but I could be wrong.

Maybe look around at architectural places or custom shops that build signs, bodies for trucks like bus bodies, ambulance bodies, things like that. Many of these foot pedals are made from extruded aluminum and cut to length. Some are custom extrusions, I am sure, but if you don't want to make an exact clone there are all kinds of shapes out there that would work. If you are going to make a lot of them, google aluminum extrusions and see what you find. You might have to buy a 20 foot length of it but you sure could make a lot of pedals with that! Or make one 20 ft. pedal!

The problem with custom making one is the end caps.
They have to fit the aluminum extrusion.

I would buy either a Fender one or Carvin one and then customize it.
You could paint the metal then put your own labeling on it.

I've gotten a couple of these to make some footswitches. Bottom is smooth for mounting switches (upsidedown). Not angled though.

You'll find some angled extrusions at any commercial storefront or glazing outfit. Ask for front loaded sill metal in 4" or 4-1/2" dims.

You'll still need to fab the end caps out of your favorite material.
I've made fancy end caps out of 1/8" and 1/4" colored acrylic. It's easy to scribe and easy to cut if you put a narrow blade on your bandsaw. Work the piece quickly through the saw as the part can heat up enough to fuse the plastic together right behind the blade. That's an evil bitch if you stop half way through and you want to cut from another angle.

Ask for cut-offs of the aluminum extrusion. Usually there's plenty of 12"~24" pieces that are of no use except for recycling. Be sure to remind the shop owner of this!
