No, it's in a rack, but it's not really a D-lator, it's teh parallel loop in the other thread.Structo wrote:Nice tone Bob and nice looking amp.![]()

Re: HRM Tweaked clip
Bob nice tones, great job on your amp. The #101 HRM huh, man I just can't decide which one to build.
Re: HRM Tweaked clip
No, it's the ODS101HRM schematic drawn up for HiGain. Check the files section. It's not after any one special serial number, just a mix of all the best sounding schems.M Fowler wrote:Bob nice tones, great job on your amp. The #101 HRM huh, man I just can't decide which one to build.
There is one change, the PAB has a .001uF cap from in to the bottom of the treble pot switched in when PAB kicks in. Adds just a tad more bottom end and boost, very cool.
Re: HRM Tweaked clip
Thanks Bob I'll look that schematic over. Not sure if I want to go with a Bluesmaster or #124 or. So many options with the Dumbles.

Re: HRM Tweaked clip
I took this amp to the gig last night. I play on Wed. nights in the house band of an open mike night. I get to jam with lots of other guys, some good, some not so good.
2 other guys used my amp. The first played a 70's LP through it and did lots of Billy G style bluesy stuff, excellent player with great attack and he let the notes form beautifly. He asked for lots of gain so I cranked both gains up to about 3:00 and hit the PAB for him. All the D-tones came out, the ping on attack, bloom, harmonics, huge girth to the tone and it put a big smile on both of our faces.
The second guy was only a fair guitarist. He played a 60's ES-330 that's 100% original, including the original P-90's and nylon saddles, beautiful piece. He played with just a little grit on it, gains on about 10:00, just enough that when he hit it lightly it was clean, bear down and it got gritty. This guy played some nice, but simple early 60's style leads. The singer did realy nice Roy Orbison, Johnny Rivers, Rockabilly stuff . The 330 nailed the "Secret Agent Man" lead tone and the rockabilly rhythms sounded great with that little grit.
Myself, I played both the Epi with Lollers and a Hwy 1 Tele. Both sounded great with just a little tweaking on the knobs. I was inspired by the tone and played the shit outta both guitars.
Overall, I'm thrilled. Once I get more used to this amp it'll be my main gigging amp.

Sounds like a fun night Bob.
The biggest satisfaction I have had musically has been playing a guitar I built through an amp that I have built.
When the two come together and make that beautiful noise we call music, it is a wonderful thing.

Congratulations, Bob. Seeing someone else really enjoy creating music through something you built is rewarding indeed.
Wife: How many amps do you need?
Me: Just one more...

Re: HRM Tweaked clip
Yea, after the first guy finished his set, he asked what knid of amp it is. I said I built it, it's a Dumble copy.. His eyes lit up and he said "An Overdrive Special like Joe Bonomassa uses" I said yea, I couldn't get him to put his guitar down, he just kept on playing through it!!mlp-mx6 wrote:+1 all the way around. Re: HRM Tweaked clip
Usually people think I'm crazy when I drag my rig to Open mics Around Buffalo, I use my d-amp, a 1x12 cab,and a small pedalboard for on the fly playing.
People think I'm crazy till I plug it in and they love the tone. GearHeads usually ask what amp I am using and I tell them a "Dumble clone" , They all say the same thing. "what's a Dumble amp" LOL. I tell them that its the kind of amp SRV and Robben/Carlton used and they say "ohhh". Its hilarious and happens every time.
I have to get used to my amp with a 1x12 when I go out because It only has a g12-85 in it,compared to my 2x12 with a Ev and a g12-65 its thin. The 2x12 is a nice well rounded sounding cab but its too big for on the fly gear.
I think alot of people are blown away when they never heard or played a d-style amp. Most people going from either a Fender or Marshall or (sigh) a solid state amp. Their amazed to hear all these new harmonics flying out of the amp.
