Substitute for NEC. MR62-12USRY Relay. Now Obsolete.

Post by 67plexi »

Mouser has the NEC # MR62-12USRY Relay listed obsolete.
Will the NEC # EA2-12NJ Relay work ( Maximum Switching Current 1 Amp )
Not 2 Amps as the # MR62-12USRY.
I need to know what is the best substitue low signal relay would be.?,

Thank you, Steve.

Anything will work really.

I just get cheap $1.50 relays from an electronics place that isn't too far from me. These amps aren't picky about something as mundane as the switches.

Or were you looking for part numbers?

Steve what is your relay power supply putting out?
Is it regulated?

What are you switching with it?

Why not use NTE R40-11D2-12, like Mr. D used?

Yes it will work. The coil only takes 150mA and the current you're switching is nowhere near 1 amp.

I have used NEC EC2-12NJ, Mouser 551-EC2-12NJ, works fine.

How are you mounting them? I switched to the larger NTE R40-11D2-12 because it fits into a standard DIP 16 socket. I use the wire wrap pin version of the DIP 16, clip out the ones I don't need, mount the DIP socket to the relay board, hard wire the connections. Then the relay just pops in and is easily replaceable if necessary. See pic below.
