i'd really like to hear your take on that one
Pretty awful except the 15 or so seconds of meh soloing out of 6+ mins of crap. Lyrics aside I think that he spends more time thinking of how he will do his hair, makeup, and wardrobe than coming up with the music.
Not a big fan of his but I think he's a better than average player (Most certainly better than me  ) and sounds pretty good on some of his covers he does. I'm not sure how long he takes on his hair or makeup though. I like some of his stuff.Like a few have stated here he maybe turning some younger kids onto SRV and Hendrix so that can't be that bad can it?

forget SRV and Hendrix.
the fact that he is turning people onto the guitar at all is cool in my book.

Mayer is a good player and he's got his own little tone quest on, can't fault him there.

Clearly, power, money and the adoration of masses affects ones choices in ways that can be difficult to understand especially by those of us without power, money and the adoration of masses.

Some may call me petty but I've never been able to come to terms with the man thong

 he has a sense of humor , no envy here.
I just prefer to listen to guitarist that push the boundaries of the instrument and music more.
Mark Ribot, Bill Frissel, Doug Pettybone or even earlier John Frusciante.

JM's Technique, record sales, have nothing to do with topic of this post and Dr Who's reaction.

Ever read Pat Metheny's reaction to Kenny G.
http://www.jazzoasis.com/methenyonkennyg.htm sort of sums the issue up for me. It's about dedication to the art and respect.

You know a lot of people were turned on to the sax because of Kenny G.

And the music industry well I agree with Joni
http://jonimitchell.com/library/view.cfm?id=990

JM's has the talent to move on, we will have to wait and see if he matures artistically.

Funny you mention that. I was watching the David Matthews Band on PBS last night and thinking that maybe, just maybe, Jeff Coffin would turn a few more people on to the saxophone and demonstrate another dimension of the soprano sax.

A lot of people don't know this unless your from the Fargo ND area but John Lang besides playing a mean guitar also was a great sax player. It was always a pleasure to listen to him at the local bars before he went big.

Also, he was a great kid then and still is, very easy to talk too.

I have seen John Mayer play at the rib shack off of cheshire bridge rd in atl..right next to the fried chicken place of the same name. This would have been at least 10 years ago or more. I vaguely remember an average cover of little sister. It was on par with the average stuff you see in there. I didn't pay any attention to it, until years later I see that kid on the front of the national enquirer, and my friend was like "hey that's Clay's buddy with Jennifer Love Hewitt".

I think youre right. Hes still a young guy working the craft. Time will reveal his true potential.

And maybes hes a bit of a tosser, but we neither have Hendrix or Stevie around anymore, and i'll never tire of hearing it reworked well.
Theres dozens of others on stages who are great players, tho very few are as listenable to my ears. He has tone.

And maybe the trio is heading in that direction, i dig it!

Not saying your point make or don't make sense to me but you absolutely shouldn't have been banned...

You were not inciting violance against a member. Apparently they were not reading your note carefully. I hate heavy handed forum mods. Whats the point. Same people would cry 1st Amendment, freedom of speech if anyone did the same to them in any other platform... I bet you could sue them if you wanted to and had zillion $ to throw to lawyers just to make your point. Oh well off the soap box. Peace.

Oh yea they suspended me for a month there for
taking up for my stepson who is a marine.

Another jar head there was just slamming me
did they ban him or suspend him ?

nope.

When I was "ALLOWED" To return
someone posted a thread about insurance
asking if everyone had it ?

I said it wont matter soon as they ram this down our
throats and force us all to pay 15 grand each in
health care insurance.

I was banned for that.
They kept my 50 bucks for being a gold member there.

chocked full of tool bags and hypocrits.

D'pergo sued them for defamation of character
and slander I heard.

I called him to offer the evidence I have on them.
They are very tight lipped about it which means
indeed he does have attorneys on them.

I threatened legal action and they said since i did that
i was banned for life.

What a crock that place is.
