OC3 regulator

Many years ago I came across a modified fender in which someone used an OC3 regulator in combination with the power supply. I have to admit it really seemed out there as far as design for a guitar amp.

I guess in my research trying to figure out why someone would do this I found it was pretty close to a leslie power amp schematic.

Has anyone come across anything like this before ? The amp sounded amazing and not stiff sounding like most would think. with the constant voltage on the B+ of the output tubes it seemed the voltage swing on tubes was different then what you mostly see with other amps.

any insight on this subject ?

In a fender?..... I've seen them in Gibsons. Might have been on the bias?

Plush did this back in the day, as a series screen regulator. (They blinked purple on loud passages !) Think of it as a tube zener diode. Still available from New Sensor Sovtek branded. They contain Mercury, so don't break one.
