Rocket or Liverpool wattage...

Post by eddie25 »

Has anyone ever measured the true wattage (not sure the correct terminology) of one of these 4xEL84 amps cranked? I am interested in some 20 watt speakers and was kinda hoping that two of them might be ok, but I have a feeling I should be closer to 50 or 60 watts minimum total in the cab. I don't think it will be cranked that much, but I want it to be very reliable.

Two 20-watters should be fine.

Eddie, the wattage is around 28-35W. The amp doesn't get too distorted so clean wattage is close. 40W total in a cab should be alright. Most people don't play these amps on 10....all the time that is!

While the topic is open, how many watts does an Express put out with the taps wide open and screaming like a banshee?

Had a browse through the Search function, don't think I came across it.

Would a couple of new Greenbacks handle one at full wellie?
